Charles Lanceplaine is a Director and Photographer based in Amsterdam and working everywhere.
A long-time Shanghai resident who has recently relocated to Amsterdam, Charles Lanceplaine is a filmmaker who has made waves with his skateboarding documentaries that have captured the subcultural zeitgeist of the communities in the cities that he has called home – most recently, through the highly acclaimed work “Shanghai 6”, which empathetically depicts the challenges that the scene has faced as the city has radically transformed in recent years, as skateboarding has gone from a free-for-all to a heavily regulated practice.
He has also directed commercial work for the likes of Vans, Beats and The North Face, which incorporates the backdrop of the urban metropolis as a living, breathing protagonist in its own right. Charles is one of the co-founder of Push Media a production company with offices in Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney and Oslo
